Message Actually since the LS1 is an all aluminum motor, that greatly helped the overall weight of the car. The LS1/auto tranny combination was aprox 100lbs lighter than the stock setup. Being that i had to ship both the VG setup and the LS1 setup, that gave me access to shipping weights. You can feel the front end's lightness in corners.. The only upgrades were with the crossmember. I made a new crossmember that was a good deal beefier than the stock unit.
The wiring for the LS1 was very straightforward. I purchase the underhood harness and just plugged it into the engien harness...then rewired for the new fuel pump and spliced off the wires needed for guages. The hardest part was my stock wiring. I got rid of all of the harnesses that i did not need so in essence, i had to completely rewire my Z for only lights(interior/exterior) and power windows/locks.
